Molality

Output: Press calculate

Formula: m = molesOfSolute / kilogramsOfSolvent

Molality (m) is a measure of the concentration of a solute in a solution. In terms of calculation, it is defined as the number of moles of solute divided by the mass of the solvent in kilograms. Unlike molarity, which depends on the volume of the solution, molality is only affected by the amount of solute and the mass of the solvent, making it independent of temperature and pressure.

To calculate molality, the formula used is m = molesOfSolute / kilogramsOfSolvent, where molesOfSolute is the number of moles of the solute being dissolved, and kilogramsOfSolvent is the mass of the solvent in kilograms. This makes molality particularly useful in situations where the solution's temperature may change, such as in boiling point elevation or freezing point depression studies.
